Sauna and hammam rituals

Pleasant warmth envelops the body, water is poured onto the stones. “Better not lie in that corner – it’s the hottest there”, someone advises. I lie down on the middle bench. I close my eyes. I curl up in a comfortable position. The scent of red Canadian cedar fills the air.

The sauna is such a wonderful experience! A need arises from deep within, seemingly from the deepest source of the body, and all that remains is to surrender to it and open the door to the sauna.
